Alex Eble

Alex Eble is an Assistant Professor of Economics and Education at Teachers College, Columbia University, and a member of Effective Intervention, a research group based in the Centre for Economic Performance at the London School of Economics. His research focuses on the microeconomics of education in developing countries and on how to raise learning levels in "pockets of poverty" in these countries.

Alex received his PhD in economics from Brown University, MSc from the London School of Economics, and his BA from Indiana University, Bloomington. In his work with Effective Intervention, Alex has designed and implemented randomized controlled trials and retrospective evaluations of education and health interventions in India, Guinea Bissau, and The Gambia. He also has several years of professional and research experience working on development in China, and he speaks and reads Mandarin Chinese.
